Employee Layoffs, Staff Reductions and Severance Packages

In the context of the recent economic challenges and company restructuring, we consult clients on staff reductions. We provide employment consultations, drawing up of suitable workforce solutions and, where necessary we work on massive layoff schemes and severance packages. .
In 2009 we successfully advised ADF Bulgaria EOOD (Dewavrin Group S.A.) on the collective redundancy of 165 employees working in a production division which was closed down. We managed to ensure that no claims were brought against the company as a result.,
We represented Panduit EEIG during a massive layoff and drafted the procedures an employer must follow during the redundancy process.

Employment issues related to mergers and acquisitions

Our team provides advice on the employment aspects of mergers, acquisitions and other restructuring of companies in order to ensure a smooth transformation in compliance with the evolving labour and employment laws.
We advised a group of bondholders (US and London based investment banks and hedge funds) on matters relating to downsizing and laying off personnel in the largest Balkan’s steel mill “Kremikovtzi AD”.

Termination of Employment and Unfair Dismissal

We consult our clients on local employment issues regarding the lawful dismissal of employees.
We acted for METRO Cash and Carry (Germany) on establishing their business in Bulgaria in 1998. We also acted as advisors in the area of employment and social security law where we faced dismissing of personnel at different seniority levels. We negotiated and executed separation agreements on behalf of the client.
